Hi, I just joined a few days ago and I have been trying to learn as much as I can about this very interesting and history-filled website. I was wondering where the logo came from? Who made it, how, why is it the way it is,... The logo is a very distinguishing part of the site and I'm interested for information. Also not sure of this is common knowledge or if nobody really knows. I tried searching for it but there were no relevant results.

It was discovered by archeologists in an ancient Mesopotamian temple. This has led us to suspect they were very advanced in terms of the graphic arts.

I would like to see their method. I bet it would be hard to create such a bright orange with only natural ingredients. tongue

Alder trees are common in the United States and across much of Europe with the red alder exclusive to the northwest portion of the United States. The thin outer bark is grey and typically covered with lichen while its inner bark is reddish-brown. The black alder is also known as the European alder. The grey alder is smaller, reaching a maximum height of just 15 feet.

It is the bark of the alder that provides the tannin for dyeing fabrics. It must be gathered carefully so as not to harm the tree, and then boiled in water to release the orange dye.

Really? I assumed it would've been made on stone or something. Is fabric hard to preserve? I never really hear about archeologists digging up fabric.

Many mummies have been found still wrapped in their fabric coverings.

Like we try to create an image of the temple where they found the logo back when it was still new.

Hey but actually can we do a project like that on the site? The temple thing I mean. I think it would be cool if we had more collaborative projects on the site. Looking through the archives it seems like there used to be more of that but now it is more just contests. (where the focus is compitition) I think it would build the community up. Seems like the site needs something like that right now.
