Luckely my happiness is not depending on a notebook Very Happy

That rating is NOT used to determine anything but nothing at all,
and it is questionable whether or not it even does that!

Please explain. Thanks.

that means someone (outside of PSC) the general public if you will, gave you a 2 rating out of a possible 10 in other words its equivalent to an F or a failing grade if you go by a grading scale ie.

A = 9 or 10
B = 7 or 8
C = 5 or 6
D = 3 or 4
F = 1 or 2

thats the way I look at it... I'm sorry, NO ONE should get an F... ok maybe so... but still an F is harsh if you did any type of good work... I can understand getting a C... at least thats passing.
so I've been failing a lot lately, yet always seem to do well vote wise... I just don't get it.

I'm sorry this cannot be an F and still be a winner...
thats very contradictory.. I think either someones down voting everyone, or the general public hasn't a clue on what it takes to do photoshop.

I know it doesn't mean anything right now, but in a way it does... when people fail you, like Gran was saying, that is a kick to the groin... It sucks.

deinately malicious (a lot of the time)

No one uses it. Most pictures don't get rated, and the ones that do only get rated by 2 or 3 people.

If ratings were opened to members, as I've tried to say before, we'd get much more meaningful data.

I agree that we'd get more data, but meaningful? Meaningful???
A chance to pop people in the nose anonymously with almost zero effort on the 'click rating 1' and you think...meaningful?

JMH decided NOT to implement the "user ranking" tie breaker feature. According to him it did not provide valuable enough data for it to be used as a tie breaker feature.

We are still going by the old "whoever posted first" rule to determine tie-breakers.

You have a poor opinion of the members of this site. I think most of our members would rate fairly personally.

I just retired from worth1000. It didn't make sense to spend hours on a project to have the mass of voters rate everything 4's and 5's out of a possible 10 rating. I felt like a failure after each contest. How demoralizing is that? I figured there was a better PS contest website somewhere. I was a little hesitant to join when I saw the same 1-10 rating options as an unregistered user. But I saw that people had a great personality here and don't pick peoples work apart. I'm glad I joined. I'm even more glad there isn't a true 1-10 rating here... It's too easy to mess up somebody's results by sabotage. I signed up with Worth1000 3 years ago... I wish I knew about this place sooner.
